Joe Biden Faces Backlash From Michigan Arab American Voters During Reelection Visit
A vocal crowd of Arab Americans gathered at Fordson High School on Wednesday night, protesting against President Joe Biden's scheduled visit to Michigan on Thursday, according to Detroit Free Press.
Organized by Palestinian American activist Amer Zahr, the rally aimed to express discontent with Biden's support for Israel's actions in Gaza.
"We are not interested in conversations with this campaign and this administration," declared Zahr, emphasizing the need for a ceasefire.
The crowd, displaying signs that read "Abandon Biden" and "Ceasefire Now," resonated with Zahr's sentiments, expressing a clear message: President Biden is not welcome in their community.

Anti-Biden Sentiment Among Arab Americans and Muslims in Michigan
A new report highlights the efforts of Arab Americans and Muslims in Michigan working to oppose President Biden, particularly in this crucial swing state.
Michigan State Rep. Alabas Farhat, among other Arab American elected officials, reportedly refused a meeting with Biden's campaign manager, Julie Chavez Rodriguez, in January, Fox News noted.
Farhat emphasized the necessity of a Gaza ceasefire as a prerequisite to restarting any conversation.
"If the president wants to start that process, it's only feasible through a ceasefire [in Gaza]," Farhat said. "That's the only way you can even restart the conversation."
During a sermon, Imam Omar Suleiman suggested that while Biden seeks support from the Arab community, it is not owed to him.
"And then your president wants to come to your community and make sure that you're still going to vote with him and vote for him in November," Suleiman said to congregants. "I hope you've sent him the right message."
The co-chairs of the Abandon Biden effort, Khalid Turaani and Samraa Luqman, urged congregants to vote in a manner that prevents Joe Biden from retaining the presidency.
Turaani emphasized that voices must be heard, stating that failure to do so strips individuals of the right to complain.
Michigan State University assistant professor Shireen Al-Adeimi pointed out a shift in strategy, highlighting the dangerous time prompting Arab Americans and Muslims to use their voting power more assertively.
She noted that supporters of a Gaza ceasefire extend beyond the Arab Americans and Muslim communities, providing strength to their expression of views.
Biden's Stance and Response to Michigan Visit
Biden's press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, addressed the President's stance during a media briefing, emphasizing his belief in Israel's right to defend itself within international humanitarian law.
However, she acknowledged Biden's heartbreak over the suffering of innocent Palestinians, Detroit News reports.
When questioned about potential meetings with Arab American leaders in Michigan during the visit, Jean-Pierre had no specific information but hinted at senior administration officials planning a trip to Michigan in February to engage with community leaders.
The President's Michigan visit followed the UAW's endorsement of his reelection and a withdrawal by some Arab and Muslim American leaders in Dearborn from a planned meeting with Biden's campaign manager.
On the eve of Joe Biden's visit, pro-Palestinian groups advocating for a ceasefire held a rally at Fordson High School, drawing attention to the significant Middle Eastern and North African population in Michigan, estimated at over 300,000 according to US census data.
