A new book about the modern first ladies has revealed new details on the fraught relationship between Donald Trump and his wife, Melania Trump, including what happened with the Stormy Daniels scandal, as well as her rivalry with Ivanka Trump and her frequent clashes with her husband while he was still president.

As first lady, Melania Trump often looked like she was not enjoying herself while she was with her husband, from incidents like slapping his hand away to looking awkward in photos with him. Many theorized she was not happy in her marriage with the then-president.

Now, a new book titled "American Woman: The Transformation of the Modern First Lady, from Hillary Clinton to Jill Biden" by Katie Rogers takes a look at their complicated history during her time at the White House.

According to Page Six, it was former Trump White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham who told author Katie Rogers about their frequent spats, including Melania intentionally backing out of an overseas trip as the Stormy Daniels sex scandal was happening.

"I think she was pissed at Trump and wanted him to be a little humiliated that she took off," the former Trump official said in the book. "The First Lady had wanted to communicate her anger to the president."

In the Stormy Daniels sex scandal, Donald Trump reportedly paid off the porn star to keep quiet about her sexual encounter with the New York real estate mogul while Melania Trump was still pregnant with their son, Barron. The scandal was confirmed by Trump's former personal attorney and fixer, Michael Cohen.

Melania's anger at the issue was revealed when her former friend and close advisor, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, leaked audio of her talking about the porn star, saying, "[Photographer] Annie Leibovitz shot the porn hooker, and she [Daniels] will be [in] one of the issues, September or October," before being asked who she was talking about, to which the then-FLOTUS replied, "Stormy."

Donald Trump Became Irate After Seeing Melania Trump Watching CNN on Air Force One

Meanwhile, the book also revealed that the couple had a major spat surrounding the news networks they frequently consume. While Trump was an avid Fox News viewer, Melania often watched CNN. When the then-president saw his wife watching the network he hated, he became irate.

People Magazine reported that the fight happened in July 2018 when the then-president became "incensed that his wife's television was tuned to CNN aboard Air Force One during an overseas trip." This led to Donald Trump ordering all TVs on Air Force One and in their individual hotel suites to only tune into Fox News.

The couple also reportedly clashed on decorating the White House. Melania spent some money to buy new decorations, but her husband then ordered those new decorations to be taken down and replaced with his usual gold ornaments.

Melania Trump and Donald Trump Daughter Ivanka Reportedly Hated Each Other

The book also claimed that then-First Lady Melania Trump waged a four-year "war against Ivanka Trump," with the two reportedly having a rivalry for influence at the Trump White House.

According to Vanity Fair, the book noted that the infamous jacket that she wore when visiting migrant children at a detention center that read "I Really Don't Care. Do U?" was not aimed at the migrant children but at Ivanka.

Melania received much backlash for wearing that jacket as it "appeared to send the message that she didn't care about the plight of the kids who'd been separated from their parents thanks to her husband."
