After losing race after race, even in her home state of South Carolina, Nikki Haley finally defeated Donald Trump in a race for the Republican Primary. This one happened in Washington DC, a city that was reeling after the events of January 6, which Donald Trump orchestrated.

Despite the win, however, Haley, who is the lone Republican primary candidate left challenging the former president, still has a lot to do as Trump still has a massive lead against her. He is still expected to challenge Joe Biden for the White House in November.

According to the BBC, the former South Carolina governor and US Ambassador to the United Nations won via a landslide in the Washington DC primary, taking 62.9% of the vote, while former President Trump took 33.2%. She won 19 delegates in DC.

Following her big win in DC, Haley campaign national spokesperson Olivia Perez-Cubas released a statement, saying that "it's not surprising that Republicans closest to Washington dysfunction are rejecting Donald Trump and all his chaos."

Donald Trump has so far won all the early-voting states ahead of the Washington DC primary, including Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. However, all those races were closer than what Donald Trump had been expecting, with Haley finally winning in a landslide over at DC.

Nikki Haley May Not Follow Pledge To Support Whoever Is the Republican Nominee Should Donald Trump Win

Haley has refused to drop out of the race despite her long-shot chances. However, should she finally lose the nomination, she says she no longer feels bound by the Republican National Committee (RNC) pledge to endorse Trump if he wins.

"The RNC is now not the same RNC," she said in an interview on Sunday, adding, "I'll make what decision I want to make."

USA Today noted that her shift from her initial stance to pledge to support whoever wins the Republican nomination was a big one, as Haley was among a handful of candidates who said they would vote for Trump if he were the Republican nominee during the first Republican debate.

While the other candidates who have backed out have gotten in line to support Donald Trump, including Vivek Ramaswamy and Tim Scott, Trump himself did not pledge to support the Republican nominee should he lose. He also did not participate in any of the debates.

Haley also slammed Trump over the former president and real estate mogul's penchant for breaking the law. She was asked if she thinks Donald Trump would follow the Constitution if elected president again. To which she replied, "I don't know. I mean, you always want to think someone will, but I don't know."

She then cited his vows of "revenge" or "retribution," adding, "What does that mean? Like, I don't know what that means. And only he can answer for that."

Haley has gotten bolder on her attacks against the former president as Super Tuesday arrives, as she hopes her momentum in the Washington DC primary would carry her to many states.
