Donald Trump Attacks E Jean Carroll Just One Day After Posting $91.6 Million Bond, Possibly Defaming Her Again
Donald Trump may have just defamed E. Jean Carroll, the woman he was found liable of sexually assaulting, once again. This came just a day after he posted a $91.6 million bond for losing against Carroll in her previous defamation case against him.
During a campaign rally in Rome, Georgia, Trump talked about the $91.6 million bond he posted on March 8 and stood by his 2019 statement that writer E. Jean Carroll made a "totally false accusation" against him. This is despite the court finding that he is liable for defamation and was ordered to pay $83.3 million in damages to Carroll for defaming her, leading him to pay that massive bond.
"I just posted a $91 million bond, $91 million on a fake story, totally made-up story," the former president told his supporters in Georgia. He added that the judgment was "based on false accusations made about me by a woman that I knew nothing about, didn't know, never heard of, I know nothing about her."
Despite these comments, evidence presented in court showed that they did know each other, with Trump continually praising Carroll's husband previously. CNBC noted Trump repeated these claims before.
"She wrote a book, she said things, and when I denied it, I said, 'It's so crazy, it's false,' I get sued for defamation," Trump once again stated. "They changed the law that allowed women to go back, like unlimited ... then she went back and she said, mid-90s maybe, I have no idea."
Donald Trump Endorses Lauren Boebert in Colorado; It Might Not Be Enough
Donald Trump also announced that he was endorsing embattled Republican Congresswoman Lauren Boebert of Colorado. Boebert is facing a myriad of issues, from her sex scandal to her son having a sex tape to her son stealing money and her messy divorce.
However, even with the Trump endorsement, Boebert might not even win her primary in the heavily-conservative 4th District of Colorado. She still ended with a third-place straw poll finish even with that endorsement, according to The Independent.
Donald Trump Praises Hungarian Autocrat Viktor Orban During His Visit to Mar-a-Lago
Meanwhile, as Trump is dealing with the E. Jean Carroll, he also hosted Hungarian autocrat Viktor Orban, who is being praised by the far right over his extreme stances. He stated, "There's nobody that's better, smarter, or a better leader than Viktor Orbán. He's fantastic."
Trump described the meeting with Orban as a "social meeting" with no agenda. He also called it "an honor" and noted that he and the Hungarian leader "kept in touch" after he left the White House.
As CNN noted, Orban has become infamous for his far-right rhetoric. The populist leader is known for his fierce anti-immigration rhetoric, Christian nationalism, and hostility to LGBTQ rights. These stances on various issues have made him very popular with Trump's far-right base.
