Robin Thicke's Q&A session on Twitter went horribly wrong when critics used it as an opportunity to bash the singer.

Robin Thicke and VH1 teamed up earlier this week asking people to participate in a Twitter Q&A session with the 37-year-old singer using the hashtag #AskThicke. However, the marketing tool backfired when users flooded the website with scathing criticisms of Thicke, his music and the mistreatment of his wife.

Many people used the hashtag to slam Thicke over his controversial hit "Blurred Lines," which many argue advocates rape.

"#AskThicke Did you really write a rape anthem as a love song for your wife and are you still wondering why she left you?, wrote on person," according to Us Weekly.

"What form of sexual or emotional abuse will you be normalising in your next jaunty hit? #AskThicke," wrote another person.

"#AskThicke It might seem like some of the questions on this hashtag are cruel and abusive but Robin, I know you want it."

Others took stabs at his sexually-charged performance with Miley Cyrus at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.

"#AskThicke why did you let at the time a 20 yr old miley cyrus take the blame for the whole VMA performance?" tweeted one person.

The R&B crooner, who is currently promoting his new album which is dedicated and titled after his wife, also got pummeled with negative tweets about his 20-year relationship with actress Paula Patton and rumors that he cheated on her. After falling in love as teenagers, the couple got married in 2005. However, the 38-year-old actress broke off their relationship in the midst of rumors that he got caught cheating on her.

"#AskThicke Do you know the line you'll have to sign on the divorce papers won't be blurred?"

"How many times do you expect Paula to forgive your bs because obviously the last 127,000 weren't enough #askthicke"

"Another person tweeted, 'Do you think Tim Howard can save your marriage?' tweeted @PlaidAndDots, referring to the goalie for the U.S. team at the World Cup," reports CNN.

"Y'all knew that #AskThicke was going 2 be a disaster. Twitter has no chill and once again PR people are getting celebrities clowned," tweeted @LisaBolekaja.

At one point, Thicke seemed to address the controversy, tweeting "I'm a big boy. I can handle it."
