Donald Trump Properties on the Chopping Block as New York Fraud Judgement Deadline Looms
Time is running out for Donald Trump, with the deadline for him to pay the $464 million New York fraud trial judgment approaching, and he still has not found a bond company willing to help him out. While this is happening, he is also under fire over recent comments against Jewish people who are not voting for him.
Trump's lawyers have spent "countless hours" trying to negotiate with around 30 bond companies, but none have so far agreed to pay the half-a-billion-dollar bond that he needs to appeal the case. This has led Trump attorneys to admit that their client does not have that amount of money on hand to pay the fine. This may force Trump to liquidate his assets and sell off some of his most famous properties. However, the clock is already ticking.
New York AG Letitia James has made it abundantly clear that she will be targeting Trump's properties should he not be able to pay in time. In more bad news for the former president, legal experts have stated that they also do not expect the court to be lenient on him, former president or not.
"I think to treat Trump differently here undercuts the entire judgment, which is that no one is above the law, including a former president," Temidayo Aganga-Williams, a partner at law firm Selendy Gay told CNN. "To allow him to not have to put up the entire bond would basically say that he's not on the hook the way anyone else would be."
While James has teased that she is "looking at" 40 Wall Street every day, it is still unclear which Trump properties would be seized as Trump owns plenty of properties all over the world. However, many of them, including the most famous ones like the Trump Tower, are in danger of being confiscated should he not pay by the deadline.
Donald Trump Draws Outrage from Jewish Community Over Recent Comments
Meanwhile, Trump is under fire once again, this time from the Jewish community. This came after claiming that Jews who vote for Democrats "hate Israel" and "their religion." This was after President Joe Biden and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer called for Benjamin Netanyahu to step down.
"I actually think they hate Israel," he told Sebastian Gorka in an interview. "I think they hate Israel. And the Democrat Party hates Israel," adding, "Any Jewish person that votes for Democrats hates their religion. They hate everything about Israel and they should be ashamed of themselves because Israel will be destroyed."
Anti-Defamation League head Jonathan Greenblatt hit back, saying, "Accusing Jews of hating their religion because they might vote for a particular party is defamatory & patently false." He added, "Serious leaders who care about the historic US-Israel alliance should focus on strengthening, rather than unraveling, bipartisan support for the State of Israel."
Donald Trump Son-in-Law Jared Kushner Also Under Fire Over Comments Regarding Israel Conflict
It is not just Donald Trump who is facing flak over Israel as son-in-law Jared Kushner, the husband of Ivanka Trump, is under fire over insensitive comments regarding Gaza.
The former top adviser to Donald Trump praised the "very valuable" potential of Gaza's "waterfront property," according to The Guardia. He then suggested that Israel should remove the civilians living there while it "cleans up" the strip.
Kushner also suggested that through "diplomacy," Israel could get the civilians out of the southern city of Rafah and into Egypt. He also stated, "I would just bulldoze something in the Negev, I would try to move people in there."
