The harrowing event unfolded when an 18-year-old man placed a frantic call to 911 on Saturday afternoon, reporting that he and his brother, a California man, had fallen victim to an attack in Georgetown, a small town situated north of Placerville.

The caller, sustaining severe facial injuries during the altercation, was separated from his brother amid the chaos but managed to seek assistance, according to USA Today. He was promptly provided medical aid and rushed to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

Upon arrival at the scene, sheriff's deputies and paramedics embarked on a search for the missing California man. Their efforts led them to discover a mountain lion crouched beside a man lying on the ground.

In a bid to rescue the injured individual, deputies discharged their firearms, causing the mountain lion to flee.

Sadly, the 21-year-old victim succumbed to his injuries, with his identity remaining undisclosed at the time of reporting.

Prompt response teams, including representatives from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the El Dorado County Trapper, were swiftly deployed to the area. Their diligent search led to the location and subsequent euthanization of the California mountain lion responsible for the fatal attack, as confirmed by DNA analysis.
