Marjorie Taylor Greene's Mike Johnson Ouster Attempt Gets Second House Republican Supporter
Despite the chaos she has caused in the Republican Party, Marjorie Taylor Greene has found a second House Republican who also wants to oust Speaker Mike Johnson from his position. That second MAGA congressman is Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky.
Massie is only the second Republican to publicly back Greene in her attempt to kick Mike Johnson out of the speakership. Politico reported that he delivered a message directly to Speaker Johnson during a closed-door GOP conference meeting.
The ouster attempt is severely unpopular, with Democrats possibly voting to save the MAGA speaker to prevent further chaos in Congress and keep the government afloat.
The ouster attempt comes as Republicans grow more and more frustrated with Johnson making concessions with the Democrats to keep the government running, with many Republicans like Greene wishing to have a government shutdown as it would be favorable to Donald Trump in the upcoming election, with Trump being able to blame the shutdown on Joe Biden.
It is still unclear, however, when Marjorie Taylor Greene would move to force the ouster vote, though she has vowed to do it eventually. For now, it may seem that she may not have enough votes to oust him yet, as Democrats may vote with some Republicans to keep him as House Speaker.
"The motion is going to get called, OK? Does anybody doubt that? The motion will get called. And then he's gonna lose more votes than Kevin McCarthy. And I have told him this in private, like weeks ago," Massie told reporters after the conference meeting. He admitted that he told Johnson, "You're not going to be the speaker much longer."
Mike Johnson Pushes for Ukraine Aide Amid Marjorie Taylor Greene's Ouster Attempt
Meanwhile, Mike Johnson is making moves of his own and may even be courting Democrats to vote against Marjorie Taylor Greene's resolution to oust him as Speaker. This involves US aid for Ukraine, which the Democrats and some Republicans want.
The far-right Republicans like Greene and Massie are angry at him because of these foreign aid packages, and he is proposing them despite the pushback from his fellow MAGA Republicans, insisting, "I am not resigning."
"We are simply here trying to do our jobs," he told reporters before calling the motion to oust him as "absurd" and "not helpful," according to The Seattle Times.
Marjorie Taylor Greene Ridiculed Over Eclipse and Earthquake Claims, Doubles Down on Them
As for the woman trying to get Speaker Johnson fired, Marjorie Taylor Greene recently came under fire herself over her comments about the recent eclipse and earthquake, claiming that it was God just punishing Americans.
Greene pushed back, tweeting, "Many have mocked and scoffed at this post and even put community notes, Jesus talked about that in Luke 12:54-56." She added, "Yes eclipses are predictable and earthquakes happen and we know when comets are passing by, however, God created all of these things and uses them to be signs for those of us who believe."
"Earthquakes happen all the time, all around the world, we can follow them in real-time using USGS resources," the X Community Note stated, correcting Greene's claims. "Eclipses are not random, they follow strict mathematical rules and can be predicted centuries before they happen. NASA has a site listing eclipses until the year 3000."
