Donald Trump Lawyers Grill Stormy Daniels During Very Combative Cross-Examination During the Hush Money Trial
The Donald Trump hush money trial finally continued after its Wednesday break with the defense cross-examining Stormy Daniels, the porn star that the former president allegedly slept with while Melania was back home tending to then-newborn Baron Trump. As expected, the cross-examination got very combative.
Trump attorney Susan Necheles raised minor inconsistencies regarding Stormy Daniels' testimony about her alleged sexual encounter with Donald Trump during a Lake Tahoe celebrity golf tournament. She also tried to discredit Daniels and presented her as somebody who profited from sleeping with Trump.
At one point, Necheles showed Daniels fighting back against a Trump supporter who sent her a harassing tweet that read, "Aging harlot Stormy Daniels is trying to recoup her losses from her countless unsuccessful lawsuits."
However, Stormy hit back in her response, saying, "Jealous? I don't need to recoup anything. Made 1 million in book deal..." Necheles pointed out that this showed Daniels did profit from her story of sleeping with Trump. "You were attacking them right back, right?" the Trump attorney asked.
"I was defending myself," answered Stormy. "Same with Mr. Trump," explaining that much like the former president, she has also been defending herself against him, as opposed to attacking him.
Daniels also noted that telling her story has hurt her more than she had made a profit from it, as she has constantly been attacked by Trump supporters, heckled, and sent death threats by them.
Donald Trump Hush Money Trial Judge Slams Ex-POTUS's Defense Team
Meanwhile, the Trump defense team also tried to file a motion for a mistrial once again. However, this just irritated Judge Juan Merchan, who denied their motion and slammed them for even trying a longshot move.

The move came after Trump lawyer Todd Blanche complained that prosecutors went too far with their questions during Stormy Daniels' direct examination. However, prosecutors shot back and argued that attacking the witness's credibility in their opening statement and then moving for a mistrial is not allowed, with Assistant District Attorney Joshua Steinglass arguing, "They're trying to have their cake and eat it too."
Judge Merchan also slammed Necheles, emphasizing that Daniels's testimony was necessary because Trump's lawyers continue to deny that the encounter even happened.
"That pits your client's words against Ms. Daniels' word," Judge Merchan told Necheles. "These details add a sense of credibility if the jury chooses to believe them," before denying the second mistrial attempt.
Donald Trump Continues Whining About the Trial After It Was Adjourned
As for Donald Trump, the former president did his usual whining in front of reporters soon after the trial was adjourned, calling Judge Merchan's ruling regarding the gag order that he was constantly breaking a "disgrace."
Trump's lawyers wanted to modify the gag order so the former president could respond to Stormy Daniels' testimony and declare a mistrial based on what she said, according to CNN.
