A report out of China has the release date for the new iPhone being updated to Sept. 25 and the bigger 5.5-inch model coming later this year.

This report is according to China.com which claims Apple has set "a firm Sept. 25 release date for the 4.7-inch iPhone 6" and that the 5.5-inch "iPhone Air" to be released later in the year.

While this date could very well be the correct release date for the new iPhone, it falls on a Thursday. Typically, Apple releases its new products on Friday. Past rumors had the iPhone 6 coming out on Sept. 19, a Friday.

The bigger version of the iPhone 6 will be titled the iPhone Air, according to AppleInsider. It seems a little out of place for Apple to call the bigger version the iPhone Air because Apple boasts its Air products as being light and thin.

Another rumor has the iPhone 6 being divided into three separate sizes and all part of the iPhone Air line. This report has the iPhone Air Mini at only 3.5 inches, the iPhone Air at 4.7 inches and the iPhone Air Pro at 5.5 inches. This three-size concept was created by artists Simone Evangelista and Ran Avni.

It's more likely that Apple sticks with the bigger screen iPhones instead of adding a mini-version. The success of its competitor's big screens shows the trend and consumer demand pointing at larger devices.

The 4.7-inch iPhone 6 will almost definitely come out before the 5.5-inch model. That's because it's been reported that Apple is having trouble finding a battery that will fit in the 5.5-inch model.

Reuters is reporting that Apple is trying to hire about 100,000 workers in China to help get the latest iPhone built, so it's definitely on its way.
