Yet another deadly incident involving a bus has happened in Peru, a country that has become infamous for bus crashes that have already killed hundreds of people this year. This time, the incident happened after a bus collided with a train in La Oroya, located 177 kilometers, or 110 miles from Lima.

The Ministry of Transportation and Communications of Peru released a statement that said that the cause of the deadly collision is still under investigation. The ministry added that both the bus and the cargo train were privately operated and had all the required permits.

Four people lost their lives in the incident, while 30 others were injured. The Peruvian Ministry of Transportation and Communications did not release the names of those who died, according to the Associated Press.

As for those who were injured, the ministry confirmed that all 30 were taken to a nearby hospital, though the severity of their injuries was not revealed to the public yet.

Highway Police Cmdr. Justo Venero stated in an interview with a local radio station that the deadly collision happened in an area that has speed-limit and train-crossing road signs The police commander added that the train driver had told authorities that t its "audible and visible signals" were on when the two massive vehicles collided.

The bus itself was traveling from Lima and was on its way to the city of Huancayo. Authorities soon released images of the accident, with the bus being overturned on the Central Highway.

Another Peru Bus Incident Left 16 Dead Just the Week Before

Peru has plenty of mountainous roads and this has led to several bus accidents. Just a week before the crash in La Oroya, an even deadlier bus crash happened, this one killing 16 people in the mountainous Ayacucho region, deep in the Andes.

The bus had been carrying over 40 passengers when it rolled off a ledge and overturned, killing 16 people and injuring dozens of others. Authorities initially found 13 dead bodies but soon confirmed that a total of 16 people had died in that deadly bus crash, according to Yahoo! News.

Ayacucho official Wiber Vega noted that the bus was traveling from Lima to the city of Ayacucho along Libertadores highway when it overturned and rolled down a slope, landing upside down. Rescue crews arrived soon after, but the recovery of the remaining bodies was delayed due to hail.

Another Peru Bus Crash Happened a Month Before, and It Was Even Deadlier

An even deadlier crash happened a month before the train-bus collision that happened last week. It also happened in the Andean region, in the e town of Sorochuco, where a bus overturned and crashed down a slope into a river, according to Reuters.

A total of 25 people died during that bus crash, with 13 people injured. Peru's roads are known to be deadly, often leading to these crashes, as its winding mountain roads often lead to vehicles crashing into the ravines below.
