Florida Plastic Surgeon Arrested Over Wife's Death During Surgery
Dr. Benjamin Brown, a prominent Florida plastic surgeon, has been arrested and charged with manslaughter following the tragic death of his wife, Hilary Ellington Brown.
The incident, which occurred at Restore Plastic Surgery in Gulf Breeze, has sparked a legal and medical investigation into the circumstances leading up to her demise.
Authorities from the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of Florida doctor Ben Brown, 41, on Monday, June 17.
The arrest comes after a thorough investigation conducted in collaboration with the District One Medical Examiner's Office and the State Attorney's Office, according to PEOPLE.
Hilary Brown suffered cardiac arrest during a cosmetic procedure performed by her husband on November 21, 2023.
She was subsequently placed on life support but tragically passed away a week later on November 28.

Medical Board's Findings and Charges
The Florida Department of Health issued an emergency restriction order on Dr. Brown's medical license, shedding light on the events leading to Hilary's death.
According to the order, Hilary had prepared her own IV bags and consumed multiple pills, including Valium, before the surgery.
During the procedure, she experienced complications attributed to lidocaine toxicity, which eventually led to her cardiac arrest, Fox News reports.
The order also highlighted lapses in the Florida plastic surgeon Dr. Brown's handling of the emergency, alleging that he delayed calling for emergency medical assistance despite his wife's deteriorating condition.
This delay is a focal point in the manslaughter charge, which accuses Dr. Brown of culpable negligence.
Hilary Brown, remembered fondly for her generosity and vibrant personality, leaves behind a grieving family and community.
Her father, Marty Ellington, has publicly criticized a Florida doctor's actions, attributing his daughter's death to negligence and asserting that proper medical protocols were not followed.
Allegations of Professional Misconduct and Unsafe Practices
In addition to the current charges, previous patients of Dr. Brown have come forward with troubling accounts of their experiences.
One patient, who underwent corrective surgeries after initial procedures went awry, described Dr. Brown's clinic as lacking proper medical standards despite its reputed status.
Another disturbing revelation includes allegations that Hilary Brown, in her final surgeries, took an active role in her own medical care, including allegedly manipulating her IV and self-administering medications.
These claims raise further questions about the oversight and practices within Dr. Brown's clinic, the Miami Herald noted.
Debra Brown Guy, a former nurse at Restore Plastic Surgery, voiced concerns about the clinic's operations, citing inadequate medical equipment and unlicensed personnel handling medications.
Her observations add weight to criticisms of Dr. Brown's management and patient care practices.
In response to the charges, Florida plastic surgeon Dr. Ben Brown has vehemently denied any wrongdoing, asserting that all medical protocols were followed on the day of his wife's passing.
His legal team intends to contest the charges in court, emphasizing his reputation as a dedicated and skilled surgeon.
