Legendary Spanish singer Julio Iglesias, 81, has come out to slam recent rumors about his alleged retirement from music, issuing a strong statement through his social media handles. In his message, the artist not only categorically denies these speculations, but also takes the opportunity to address other false news that have circulated about him in recent years.

"Today I woke up to the fake news that I'm retiring," Iglesias said, showing his surprise at the spread of this information. The singer-songwriter did not hesitate to point out that this is not the first time he has faced unfounded rumors about his career and health. "In recent years they have killed me several times, they have said I have Alzheimer's, they have said everything, and today they have gone even further," he added.

Iglesias made it clear that, when the time comes for him to retire, it will be he himself who will announce it. "The day I retire, I will personally announce it with sorrow, but with dignity," said the artist.

Far from retiring, Julio Iglesias revealed that he is immersed in new professional projects. Specifically, he mentioned that he is working on a series for Netflix, which, in his words, "will surely change a lot the perception of my life".

Iglesias' statement also included a criticism of certain sectors of journalism. The artist lamented "the evil that a bad journalist can do," referring to the publication of unverified information about his alleged retirement.

Julio Iglesias is one of the most successful Latin artists worldwide. His impact on music and his ability to remain relevant throughout the years are a testament to his talent and dedication. In 2011, during a ceremony in which he was recognized as the best-selling Latin artist in history, Iglesias stated: "I will continue singing until the public tells me enough is enough".
