Colombian artist Karol G took a break from her concert schedules and commercial engagements on Tuesday, October 22, to visit one of Medellín's neighborhoods. There, with the support of her Con Cora Foundation, she helped reinaugurate the Arenys del Mar School, a project two years in the making.

To the surprise of local residents, Karol G was seen smiling and interacting with children and teens, encouraging them to continue their education to help the community grow and achieve their dreams.

The visit, documented by Karol G's team, showed her personally giving words of welcome and gratitude for the school's restoration, which will now serve over 600 children from the area.

"I'm proud to be part of this project and to contribute to positive change in a community that's so close to my heart," said Karol G, who saw her dream of supporting the growth of young people come true. "A quality education is key for children to build their dreams. I hope every student keeps their curiosity because education doesn't just open doors; it changes lives."

The school had been damaged in 2022 when heavy rains caused part of the structure, which bordered the La Iguana stream, to collapse, leaving hundreds of children without access to education.

The restoration effort included building a new retaining wall, renewing the main plaza and classrooms, remodeling the bathrooms, installing a playground, creating a fully equipped new technology room, and expanding the sports court.

The event also featured refreshments, inflatable parks, and donated school supplies. The total investment in the project is estimated at one million dollars.

Karol G's participation went beyond formalities. She took to the stage in the school's auditorium to personally inaugurate it with a short performance of her hit song 'Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido,' which was enthusiastically sung along by the audience.

Karol G has been working tirelessly with her Con Cora Foundation alongside her music career, which earned her the 2023 Billboard Spirit of Hope Award during the Billboard Latin Music Awards. During her acceptance speech, "La Bichota" emphasized that the foundation is led by women and also works for women.

"One of the reasons it's so beautiful and special to be part of these movements is that it gives us the chance to receive help from companies around the world that seek us out to support these big projects, which you all are part of, too, because what we do with tickets and album sales also goes to the foundation," the singer explained at the time, alongside Valentina Bueno, the foundation's director.
