The Fourth of July is America's Birthday and many Americans are with their families or taking vacations, but what about businesses and stores? Are they open or closed today?

Mail Services

There will be no mail delivery on the Fourth. Post offices are closed as well. If you need postage, you can visit most grocery stores and drug stores to make a purchase.

Supermarkets

Most chain grocery stores are open with regular hours. Grocery stores cash in on last minute shoppers needing meat, watermelon, alcohol and other materials on the Fourth. Wholesale chain Costco will be closed.

Convenience Stores/Gas Stations

Almost all gas stations and convenience stores are open with their regular hours. With heavy traffic expected on the roads this weekend, gas stations will remain open. Keep in mind that some will be busy.

Electronics Stores

Places like Best Buy, Staples and even the Apple Store will be open. Best Buy has a big sale on the Fourth and will have regular hours. The Apple Store will close early on the Fourth, call your local store to see when they close.

Shopping Malls

There will be sales! Many stores at most shopping malls will be open. Give your favorite stores a call to see if they clsoe early.

Drug Stores

Most chain drug stores like CVS, Walgreen's and Rite Aid will be open regular hours, some will even be open 24 hours a day. Smaller pharmacies are likely to be closed.

Banks

Most banks will be closed on the Fourth. ATMs are always open for access to cash.

Parking

Most parking garages in major cities will be open, but if you can find parking on the street, it's likely that the meters won't be enforced, so free unlimited parking for you!

Mass Transit

Cities with trains/subways/buses will likely be running on their holiday schedules. That means less frequent trains and buses. Make sure to visit your city transit's website or call ahead to make sure you aren't waiting too long for the next train or bus.
