Rashida Jones, 'Parks and Recreation' Star, Develops New CW Show 'The Revengers' with Sister Kidada
Rashida Jones, who will be leaving "Parks and Recreation" after the current season, is now producing a new CW dramedy series called "The Revengers."
The CW recently ordered a script for the show, which was formerly known as "Ladyballs," according to The Hollywood Reporter. Jones and younger sister Kidada Jones came up with the idea for the hour-long series.
"The Revengers" focuses on two young female New Yorkers who search the city for love. The twenty-something women were once friends, but find themselves reunited when they discover that they have been involved with the same man. Together, they hatch a plan to get revenge on the cheater. The pair soon realizes that revenge can be a profitable affair and create their own business of helping victims get payback from those who harmed them.
Rashida Jones partnered with Will McCormack to be executive producers for the show along with Lara Alameddine, Daniel Bubiecki and Kara Taylor, who will also be a main writer. Rashida's sister Kidada, who is famous for her work in modeling, acting and fashion, will also be producing for the first time.
Rashida's producing credits include a new comedy called "Stuck," which she also produced alongside McCormick. "Stuck," which was recently green-lighted by FOX for a pilot, comes from "Parks and Recreation" writer Alexandra Rushfield.
Recently, the Jones sisters posed for the fall 2013 campaign of the fashion label The Band of Outsiders. The two pose lightheartedly with the nicknames "Deeds" and "Doods" in faded-style pictures.
The sisters, daughters of music producer Quincy Jones, are good friends with The Band of Outsiders designer, Scott Sternberg.
"My sister and I have known Scott for a long time and [have been] huge fans of Band for so long," Rashida said in an interview with People magazine. "We feel super honored to be a part of the fall campaign. We have such different styles, and Scott's eye is such that we both find stuff that we love every season."
Rashida will leave "Parks and Recreation" after appearing in 13 episodes this season.
