Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban have a new addition to their 'American Idol' judging panel.

E! News has confirmed that American songwriter and music producer Dr. Luke has officially signed on as the third judge for Season 13 of the Fox reality singing competition.

The news comes shortly after rumors that he was being considered for the third spot after will.i.am turned down the offer.

Dr. Luke, whose real name is Lukasz Gottwald, has produced and co-written many commercially successful pop songs including Ke$ha's 'Tik Tok,' Katy Perry's 'I Kissed A Girl,' Flo Rida's 'Right Round' and Taio Cruz's 'Dynamite.'

In addition, he has collaborated with many contemporary pop music sensations such as Rihanna, Jessie J, Nicki Minaj, Miley Cyrus and B.o.B.

The 39-year-old producer is responsible for producing 'American Idol' Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson's smash hits 'Since U Been Gone' and 'My Life Would Suck Without You.'

The songwriter-producer has also garnered many music industry accolades.

He and Swedish record producer Max Martin were awarded the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers Producer and Songwriter of the Year award in 2011. He also earned a Grammy nomination for Producer of the Year and most recently, he was included in Billboard's '40 Under 40.'

Dr. Luke's addition to the judging panel comes less than a week after Casper Smart confirmed that former judge Jennifer Lopez would be reprising her 'Idol' gig for Season 13.

The questions of who's joining and who's leaving 'American Idol' have been quite prominent for the upcoming season, which premieres in early 2014.

Deadline recently reported that music producer Jimmy Iovine, who had served as an in-house mentor for three seasons, is leaving the show and reportedly being replaced by Randy Jackson.

Jackson, along with Season 12 judges Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey, announced at the end of last season that he would not be returning as a judge for Season 13. He had served on the judging panel since the first season back in 2002.
