'Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled the World' Book - Kate Sues Ex-Husband Jon for Millions Over New Book
Jon and Kate plus eight, minus a few million dollars? It is being reported that Kate Gosselin is suing her former co-star and husband Jon Gosselin over inflammatory remarks and information he made public about her in his new book.
Kate states that Jon illegally obtained data from her computer in order to provide content for his new book 'Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled the World,' which he co-authored with tabloid writer Robert Hoffman. The amount of the lawsuit, which is still-undisclosed, is reportedly in the multi-million dollar range.
"Jon violated a federal anti-hacking statute in order to publish salacious, scandalous and defamatory information about Kate," said her lawyer A. Jordan Rushie. "It's damaged her reputation."
Jon Gosselin has been known to be savvy with computers. When his show 'Jon and Kate Plus 8' first aired, he had a job working with computers, though it was never really shown exactly what he did. Certainly, the charges against him would indicate that he has a fair amount of technical knowledge.
"The lawsuit, filed Monday, also accuses Jon Gosselin of identity theft, wiretapping and invasion of privacy. Damaged sought were not specified. Neither Jon Gosselin nor Hoffman, also named as a defendant, were available for comment," reports the Inquistr.
The suit was filed Monday in Philadelphia, and claims that both Hoffman and Jon were well aware of what they were doing when they included the undisclosed information in their book. Two days after the book appeared on Amazon it was taken down, allegedly because it contained information that was obtained illegally.
Sadly, this is not the first time the former couple has been embroiled in a battle with one another. Jon has sued for custody of their eight children in the past, citing Kate's appearance on Dancing with the Stars as proof that she is an unfit mother. They have also had many choice words with each other via the media, though they have attempted to be civil with one another while dealing with the kids.
"We text. It's moved from email to text," Jon said. "We don't communicate that well, so it's better with text to leave emotion out of it. Really, all we're dealing with is just transportation and logistics."
Now that a multi-million dollar lawsuit is pending, chances are good that there will be a bit more emotion involved with those texts now.
