MacBook Pro vs. MacBook Air Comparison: Is a New MacBook Pro Release Coming?
A 2014 MacBook Pro could come out this September and the Apple App Store may have even accidentally put out a teaser suggesting the release of the latest laptop. Apple has not confirmed the release of the new product and there could be some delays that may prevent it.
There are several reasons to believe it's possible that a new and improved 2014 MacBook Pro could come out later this year.
First, the Apple Store is now offering zero percent financing to the existing MacBook Pro models at their stores, suggesting that they are trying to sell them out and make room for a new model.
Next, the Apple Store is also offering incentives to students and teachers for buying the MacBook Pro, offering $100 gift cards for future Apple purchases.
Finally, the MacBook Air came out with a 2014 version that only slightly improved its specs. Analysts believe the MacBook Pro is in for way more changes and improvements than the Air made.
One thing that could set the possibility of an updated MacBook Pro is the Intel processor that Apple wants to use in it. Chinese website VR Zone told MacRumors that the 14-nanometer Broadwell chips from Intel could be delayed. This means any future models of the MacBook, including a 2014 Pro and even and another updated MacBook Air would be delayed too.
If Apple can discover the exact length of delay of the processors, they will be better prepared for any future hardware releases. Because Apple is often first in line for Intel chips, as soon as Intel can end the delay Apple will be able to start putting them into any new hardware they have planned.
The latest version of the Air came out in April, but the latest version of the Pro came out way back in October 2013, so it would make sense for a new MacBook Pro. If you're in the market for a MacBook Pro, wait a little longer, and you could be pleasantly surprised when Apple makes significant improvements to this laptop.
Could we see a 12-inch MacBook Air model? A size not seen on the Air or the Pro? MacRumors thinks so.
