A recent hoax claiming "Orange Is the New Black" had been canceled has outraged "OITNB" fans.

"Did orange is the new black seriously get cancelled?" one fan tweeted Saturday. "If this is true I cannot even describe how mad I am."

Another "OITNB" fan tweeted, "I just read somewhere that the third season of Orange Is The New Black has been cancelled. If that is true then I consider my life over."

The New York Daily News reported that on Friday, Empire News wrote an article with the title, "Netflix Pulls Plug On 'Orange is the New Black'; The Reason Why May Shock You." The Empire News article then attributes the cancellation to a "private [feud]" between Netflix co-founder Hastings and show creator Jenji Kohan. "A private [feud] between Netflix co-founder Hastings and show creator Jenji Kohan came to a head after Hastings insisted to Kohan that there be more male leads in the show. Kohan became infuriated with the idea, being that it would stray from the memoir written by the real life character Piper Kerman, around whom the show is based," the Empire News article read.

As word spread about the alleged cancellation, the folks over at "Orange Is the New Black" took time to assure fans that the Empire News article was a hoax and that season 3 of "OITNB" is still underway. "Don't worry, dandelions! ‪@OITNB is not cancelled. Follow season 3 production here," Netflix tweeted, while an "Orange Is the New Black" official tweet read, "Orange Is The New Black has NOT been canceled. Whoever started this rumor will be spending some time in the SHU."

Even "OITNB" cast member Kate Mulgrew chimed in on the cancellation frenzy by posting a Facebook message for her fans that read, "Everyone can stop writing me and breathe easy. ‪#‎OITNB‬ HAS NOT been cancelled. It's renewed for a 3rd season which is currently in production. The website reporting the story is a hoax."
