Dr Luke. will reportedly not be joining the 2014 season of "American Idol."

Earlier this week, E! Online announced that Dr. Luke "officially signed on" to be the third judge on the new season of "American Idol."  Now, however, the web site says that Dr. Luke, also known as Lukasz Gottwald, will no longer be a judge because of a conflict of interest.

"It appears that in the 11th hour, Sony may have stepped in," M.J. Santilli, writer for MJs Big Blog, said in an interview with ABCNews.com.

In 2011, Dr. Luke. signed a deal with Sony Music where he was to start a label imprint called Kemosabe. Universal Music Group holds the exclusive rights to music released by "American Idol" contestants. This is a problem for Sony Music who is a competitor with Universal Music Group. As a result, Dr. Luke would have been in an awkward position if he were to be developing talent for one of his employer's competitors.

"Unfortunately, I can't be in two places at the same time ...," Dr. Luke wrote on his Twitter account, possibly referring to his dilemma.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dr. Luke also thought that being a judge on "American Idol" would have been too time-consuming for him.

"He really loves his artists and wants to build up the label," a source said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Santilli thinks that "American Idol" is likely to use guest judges while they continue the search for a third judge. Auditions for the new season are supposed to take place in Sept. and Oct.

"Or heck, they may just decide to bring Randy Jackson back," Santilli said. "There's no killing that guy off. This is a guy who will survive anything."

Other rumors say that Jackson will replace Jimmy Lovine as the mentor on "American Idol," but this has not been officially confirmed

Dr. Luke began his career as the lead guitarist for "Saturday Night Live's" house band. He is a songwriter and producer who has written music for many pop stars including Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry and Pink.

Keith Urban has been confirmed to be a judge on the new season of "American Idol." Jennifer Lopez is also expected to make a return the singing show, but has yet to be confirmed by FOX.
