Killed Transgender Woman in Baltimore is Sister of Clippers’ Reggie Bullock
The body of a murdered transgender woman has been identified as the sibling of Clippers' shooting guard Reggie Bullock. The basketball pro confirmed to WJZ that the Baltimore woman was his sister.
Originally born Kevin Long, Bullock's sibling identified as Mia Henderson. Bullock tweeted about the grief he was feeling, writing, "All I can say is my brother showed me how to live your 'OWN LIFE' love you [so] much man. Gone but not forgotten."
Later, he posted, "At least I sent the last LOVE YOU to my brother."
The Associated Press reported that Baltimore police found 26-year-old Henderson early Wednesday morning in an alley. Police said Henderson died from "severe trauma."
"We do know that there was trauma to the body to indicate that there was a homicide," Major Dennis Smith told WJZ. A neighbor told the Baltimore Sun that she believes she saw Henderson and her killer go into the alleyway together. According to the news outlet, the area where police found Henderson's body is a known "hot spot for prostitution."
Officials have not identified any suspects nor determined a motive. The Associated Press also said authorities are unsure if there is a connection between this case and the murder of another transgender woman, Kandy Hall, in June.
Very few details on the case have been released, but officials are hoping that the media attention on this case, largely due to its connection with a NBA player, will help shed light on new evidence.
"The high-profile nature of it goes toward solving it," Eric Kowalczyk, acting captain of the Baltimore Police, said. "We need to make sure that the community understands that as a police department, we're going to do everything in our power to support them, listen to their concerns, meet with them, and at the same time ask for their assistance."
