'Walking Dead' Star David Morrissey Cast In New AMC Pilot 'Line of Sight'
Will the Governor die in Season 4 of 'The Walking Dead'? Now that David Morrissey has been cast in a new AMC pilot, it may be a possibilty (warning: spoilers if you haven't seen Season 3 of 'The Walking Dead').
Morrissey portrayed the big bad villain known as the Governor during last season of the hit zombie apocalypse drama. At the end the Season 3 finale, the Governor had lived to see another day.
According to Deadline, AMC has cast Morrissey as the lead of its new drama pilot 'Line Of Sight.' However, the network said in a statement that the 49-year-old British actor will be able to do both Season 4 of 'The Walking Dead' and the 'Line Of Sight' pilot, as they share the same filming location.
"We are huge fans of David Morrissey and are glad he'll be doing double duty for AMC viewers through his work on 'The Walking Dead' and our pilot for 'Line Of Sight,' both of which are produced in Atlanta," AMC told Deadline.
Morrissey had only signed on for Season 3, but he was brought back for Season 4 and appeared on 'The Walking Dead' Comic Con panel in San Diego last month. His casting on another AMC show promotes speculation that his character may be killed off sometime in Season 4.
The Governor's death wouldn't be a huge surprise, as 'The Walking Dead' is notorious for frequently killing off major characters. In episode four of the third season, two major characters who had been on the show since the pilot were brutally killed during a zombie attack.
According to Deadline, AMC is known for having the same actors on its multiple series. Lennie James, who had a recurring role on 'The Walking Dead,' has appeared on AMC's 'The Prisoner' and currently co-stars the network's newest drama 'Low Winter Sun.'
From creator Blake Masters and director Jonathan Demme, Fox Studios and AMC's 'Line Of Sight' recounts the life of Lewis Bernt (Morrissey), a National Transportation Safety Board investigator who survives a perplexing plane crash. Bernt embarks on a confounding quest to discover the cause of the plane crash. Kai Lennox has also been cast in the pilot as Tony Vie, a crash victim.
Season 4 of 'The Walking Dead,' which will have a total of 16 episodes, premieres Oct. 13 on AMC. Check out the trailer here. There's no sign of the Governor!
