Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is looking to bolster the roster in hopes of making noise in their Champions League campaign next season and reports indicated that the Reds are eyeing the Queens Park Rangers' Loic Remy.

Rodgers, who is looking for a striker to replace Luis Suarez after the former Reds star moved to Barcelona, is highly interested in Remy, who scored 14 goals during his loan spell at Newcastle United last season.

The Reds are reportedly planning to make a strong push to acquire Swansea forward Wilfried Bony, but Rodgers has now shifted his attention to Remy, who is drawing strong interest from several teams on the transfer market.

"Rodgers is weighing up an offer of around eight million pounds for the France international after backing away from a move for Swansea forward Wilfried Bony," ESPN FC reported.

Reports indicated that the Rangers are aggressively shopping the France international, but the Reds are facing competition for the 27-year-old, who is also one of Arsenal's top target this offseason.

Sources indicated that Liverpool have the advantage, financially, because they have money to spend after the lucrative transfer deal that brought Suarez to Barcelona.

Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group reportedly gave Rodgers £100 million--the equivalent of $170,865,000--to spend on summer moves as they look to improve their chances in the Champions League and in next season's Barclays Premier League.

Rodgers have been aggressively shopping for players, but the veteran manager insisted that they are carefully studying their options before getting on a spending spree.

"We felt last year we just never had the depth and we are in the Champions League this year, so we have to ensure we have as strong a squad as possible," Rodgers said. "We certainly won't spend just for the sake of spending -- it has to be the sort of player who is going to improve us."

Aside from Remy, sources said that Rodgers is also targeting Lille's Divock Origi, Swansea's Ben Davies, and Southampton's Dejan Lovren after missing out on former Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez, who moved to Arsenal.
