BBC 'Doctor Who' Season 8 Leaked Footage, Trailer and Cast Spoilers: New Episodes Feature Darker Doctor by Peter Capaldi, Network Apologizes Over Latin American Division Mishap [Watch]
There is still more than a month between now and the premiere of the latest season of "Doctor Who," but there has been leaked footage and scripts.
According to ScienceFiction.com, five scripts for "Doctor Who" Season 8 have been leaked online reportedly from the BBC's Latin American division located in Miami where the episodes were to be translated. The leaks also include the first two episodes of the coming season.
The leaked footage has reportedly not undergone post-production yet. BBC had issued a statement regarding their investigation of the security breach and thanked fans for their continued support of the successful franchise. BBC also issued an appeal to stop the online sharing, although the appeal did not hold much ground. The leaked footage included, according to Radio Times, a rough black-and-white edit of the first episode "Deep Breath," which will be Peter Capaldi's introduction as the next "Doctor Who."
Amid this news, BBC gave fans a real treat: The studio released a full-length trailer for "Doctor Who" Season 8, which was unveiled in the final game of the World Cup. The latest season of "Doctor Who" is set to premiere on Aug. 23 in the U.K., U.S. and other markets.
The official trailer shows that the latest doctor, Peter Capaldi, will be very different from his predecessors. He is older and sports a Scottish accent. The new doctor's character is darker and will try to correct his many past mistakes. At the same time, he will try to find out if he and Clara are good people. It was not shown in the trailer if the fast-talking, quick-witted Clara is still the same.
