Backstreet Boys Postpone Israel Concerts Due to Gaza Crisis
The Backstreet Boys have postponed their three upcoming sold out shows in Tel Aviv's Raananna Amphitheater because of the rising tension and ongoing violence in the region.
The Backstreet Boys were originally set to perform in Tel Aviv for three consecutive days beginning on July 29.
But on Sunday, the band released a statement on their official website, apologizing to fans for the postponed show.
"Our dear BSB fans,
We are very sorry to inform you that the BSB concerts planned for July 29-30-31 at the Raanana Amphitheater have been postponed. This is a major disappointment for the band and fans as this was to be our first visit to Israel and we looked forward to meeting our fans," the BSB wrote in their official statement.
BSB then continued to explain that they are in the process of scheduling future dates in Israel next year.
"We're already working with the producers on new dates during Spring 2015 and will notify everyone about this as soon as possible. Sending lots of love to everyone."
The Backstreet Boys aren't the only acts to cancel their shows in Israel. TMZ reported Neil Young & Crazy Horse and Paul Anka have also scrapped their shows in Israel because of the violence in the area.
Lady Gaga is scheduled to perform in Israel this fall and has not yet postponed or cancelled her show, reported ABC News.
Despite the setback in Israel, the Backstreet Boys seem to be enjoying themselves on tour.
On Saturday, the boys were inducted into the Walk of Fame in Locarno, Switzerland, and described the experience as "a huge honor" on their website.
On Monday, BSB tweeted that they were met with another honor to meet die-hard fan Kim who was nominated by friends and family to experience the Front Row Foundation's "Front Row Experience" with the Backstreet Boys.
It was an absolute honor meeting Kim. Thank you @FrontRowCharity for bringing us together! Read Kim's story here: https://t.co/mfMyrj07PC
