'True Blood' Star Anna Paquin Says Bisexuality and Monogomy Aren't 'Mutually Exclusive'
During a recent interview with HuffPost Live, "True Blood" star Anna Paquin opened up about her bisexuality and why she decided to come out as a "happily married bisexual mother."
When asked about why she tweeted "Proud to be a happily married bisexual mother. Marriage is about love not gender. âª@eqca âª@NOH8Campaign âª@ItGetsBetter," Paquin responded that the tweet was in honor of Gay Pride Month in L.A.

"Well it was pride month in L.A. and there's obviously a lot of people supporting the assorted campaigns. And it's something that I feel really strongly about and that was as good as I could do within the Twitter like, however many characters you're allowed to use," she jokingly responded.
Paquin also revealed that prior to coming out on Twitter, she was very open with her husband of three years, Stephen Moyer, about her sexuality.
Paquin explained that the stigmas she's experienced since coming out as bisexual are simply not her problem.
"I mean, there's people that are probably gonna go to their grave thinking whatever they think about the LGBT community. That's their problem, not mine. And there's people that think that monogamy and bisexuality are mutually exclusive. Again, their problem not mine," she said.
Paquin's hope for the LGBT community is that the more she and others talk about it, the more normal and mundane the topic will be; thus lessening the hype and stigma surrounding the LGBT identity.
"The reason I feel like it's important to talk about this stuff is that the more normal and, frankly, mundane and boring this stuff becomes, I think the better it's going to be for everyone who is part of our community," Paquin continued.
Despite Paquin's future hopes for normalcy in the LGBT community, she admits that the current stigmas that surround it don't surprise her.
"I know there's a lot of hateful people out in the world who have very strong opinions. And you know when you stick your neck out on certain topics that some people are gonna go 'yay' and some people are gonna say some of the most vile things that you can possibly imagine. So no, nothing surprise me, " Paquin concluded.
