'Game of Thrones' Season 5 Spoilers: New Setting in Spain, Will Aimee Richardson's be Replaced?
"Games of Thrones" fans can expect another gripping season of the popular HBO series with a cast shake-up come 2015 when the show returns.
Because Season 4 of the hit series just ended last month, there aren't many spoilers about what to expect in Season 5. However, there is a lot of speculation that there will be some changes in the cast.
The New Zealand reported that Keisha Castle-Hughes may take on the role of Nymeria Sand, one of the notorious Sand Snakes. Other reports claimed "Lost" alum Tania Raymonde has read for Obara Sand after a video emerged online of her appearing to be in an audition. There is also talk that German actor Tom Wlaschiha could return as Jaqen H'gar, while Aimee Richardson's character Myrcella might be replaced by Nell Tiger Free in order to help the character appear older.
HBO confirmed that starting in mid-October many of the scenes from the show will be filmed in Spain, which is Prince Oberyn Martell's Mediterranean-esque homeland. The province of Seville appears to be the main arena for scenes shot in Spain.
"At least one palace, the Alcázar in Seville, is on the list of locations for Martell HQ (pictured in the photo above), although the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos in Córdoba and the Alhambra in Granada have also been considered, according to local reports (the former is a Moorish-built castle from the 1300s, and the palace's courtyard was used in Ridley Scott's Kingdom of Heaven). Other Spanish locations being considered are a bullfighting arena and a desert area near Osuna for a battle scene," Vulture reported.
In the meantime, the show has announced an all-star lineup of directors that will film the 10 episodes of the season. The directors include Michael Slovis of "Breaking Bad" to direct Episodes 1 and 2, Mark Mylod of "Shameless" to direct Episodes 3 and 4, "Boardwalk Empire's" very own Jeremy Podeswa to direct Episodes 5 and 6, Miguel Sapochnik of "House" to direct Episodes 7 and 8, and David Nutter of "The X-Files" to finish the season off directing Episodes 9 and 10.
Although showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have both directed in the past, it appears that they may want to put more focus toward writing and producing the show.
