HBO 'True Detective' Season 2 New Episode Spoilers, Casting Rumors: Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch Confirmed, Along With Female Sheriff With Troubled Past
It's been a nail-biting wait since everybody's been teased by the news that Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch will be playing the two leads in Season 2 of "True Detective", the Emmy-nominated hit drama from HBO.
All the central characters will be flawed. Colin Farrell's character will have to deal with anger management and cocaine issues. The younger California Highway Patrol Officer, which is supposed to be played by Taylor Kitsch, had been suspended for sexually exploiting a young woman.
According to FilmDivider, the character that is to be played by Colin Farrell, if he takes on the role, he will have an older partner, although he will not be a central character. Based on what Nic Pizzolatto revealed, the fourth guy will be the villain in the second season. Pizzolatto also revealed that the season will be about the secret occult history of the U.S. transportation system, about bad men and hard women.
There will also be a female sheriff in her 30s, who like the other central characters, will also have her own personal demons. She'll be playing a character with a troubled past, who will also be struggling with her day-to-day problems and her issues with gambling and alcohol.
FilmDivider also revealed that the premiere episode of Season 2 of "True Detective" will begin with the murder of Ray Caspar. He is the City Manager of a fictional city in California, and his murder will revolve around a plan to link South and North California with a high speed train, a plan that reeks of corruption because everyone involved will be running after very profitable federal grants and land ownership.
While there is still no definite news on who will be playing the fourth lead role in the highly anticipated Season 2 of "True Detective," John Landgraf, FX Networks CEO, commented that the show will have to prove that it is not just a "vehicle for movie stars" during the summer press tour of the 2014 Television Critics Association, Indie Wire reported.
That was such a shot at HBO coming from rival FX Networks. Is it jealousy? Because at the moment, the persistent rumors circulating around are about the casting of Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch. There will be a female officer and no decision or rumor has surfaced on who the fourth lead (a villain) will be. He also took a shot at Nic Pizzolatto, saying that he will have to continuously write something great each year.
