Daniel Radcliffe, Comic-Con: Actor Dons Spider-Man Mask
As Comic-Con continues in San Diego, one actor has stepped into the science fiction and fantasy convention for the first time. However, to avoid the mobs of adoring fans, he wore a disguise.
Daniel Radcliffe, better know for his role as Harry Potter, arrived for the first time at Comic-Con this weekend. One would imagine that since he is part of one of the largest fantasy franchises in recent history, the actor would have visited Comic-Con before this year, but he had not.
To avoid the masses of enthralled fans, Radcliffe decided to don a Spider-Man mask to blend among the hundreds of cosplayers in attendance, according to MTV News. He had with him a full body suit because he wanted to experience the convention from the perspective of attendees, but his fame would have prevented it. So he wore the outfit and mingled among the crowd, taking photos, according to his interview with MTV News.
Radcliffe is at Comic-Con, aside from wanting to experience the nerd convention, to promote his upcoming movie "Horns," which will arrive in theaters on Oct. 31, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Directed by Alexandre Aja and based on a novel by Joe Hill, both of who were present at the panel, the movie "recounts the dark tale of a man named Ig (Radcliffe) who is falsely accused of killing his girlfriend and starts to grow a set of horns that seem to have a mysterious disinhibiting effect on those around him," reports the Los Angeles Times.
"Horns" will help Radcliffe distance himself from the "Harry Potter" franchise and help him prove his acting skills past the children's movie franchise.
"If you take those opportunities when they're given to you and try to capitalize them, then hopefully word gets out that you're not content to rest on your laurels," Radcliffe told the crowd, according to the L.A. Times.
"Towards the end of 'Potter,' I did start to get worried [when] journalists started asking, 'Do you think your best years are behind you?' - at 20. That does get in your head a bit."
