Comic Con Update: HBO's 'True Blood'
This week will mark Comic-Con's 44th year in existence, and this Comic-Con will also mark the last panel for the HBO vampire series "True Blood."
The cast of "True Blood" are expected to make their appearance at their self-titled panel in Ballroom 20, today at 5 p.m. in San Diego, and not at the most coveted Hall H. Here is what we know so far about the show's final return to the festival of comic books, graphic novels, movie trailer releases, TV shows, cosplayers, science-fiction aficionados and ultimate comic book fans.
"True Blood" will be sponsoring the "Robert A. Heinlein" annual blood drive held at the Comic-Con four-day event. Blood donors are expected to receive "True Blood" T-shirts, water bottles and bandages, the Hero Complex reported.
The panel will be moderated by Tim Stack of Entertainment Weekly, and the "True Blood" panel should include people such as executive producer Brian Buckner, and the large cast of vampires, humans and fairies: Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton), Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse), Chris Bauer (Andy Bellefleur), and Kristin Bauer van Straten (Pam Swynford de Beaufort).
Also, Anna Camp (Sarah Newlin) also appeared in the Academy-award nominated "The Help"; along with Nelsan Ellis (Lafayette Reynolds). Ellis also starred in "The Help," and he will be in the upcoming James Brown biopic "Get On Up." Also expected to appear are Nathan Parsons (James), Carrie Preston (Arlene Bellefleur), Sam Trammell (Sam Merlotte), Rutina Wesley (Tara Thornton) and Deborah Ann Woll (Jessica Hamby), Movie Web reported.
However, Alexander Skarsgård, who plays the Nordic vampire Eric, will not be attending.
As this article is written, there is a cast autograph signing at the WB Booth at 2 p.m. And there is also expected to be a "True Blood" Pop-Up store where visitors at Comic-Con can buy the show's memorabilia.
In a video interview with TVLine, Bauer van Straten gets emotional about the series ending, and how hard it was for her to say goodbye to the cast that she has been working with since the show's 2008 beginning. (Click here to see the full video interview.)
Bauer van Straten's next project is a documentary, but first she says that she will be resting in a cabin in Wisconsin for two weeks after the season comes to an end.
"True Blood" airs tomorrow night on HBO at 8 p.m. There are only five episodes left in the final season.
