AMC 'The Walking Dead' Season 5 Release Date and Trailer: Cast Talks Missing Beth Greene, Developing Character Relationships at San Diego Comic-Con [Watch]
"The Walking Dead" made quite a splash at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, especially with the debut of its Season 5 trailer.
During the convention, "The Walking Dead" comic book creator and AMC show executive producer and writer Robert Kirkman shared his view on the characters still standing.
"This is a very dangerous, very different group of people," he said according to New York Daily News.
Those behind the show also teased some Season 5 events. It should please fans to know that the mysterious vanishing of Beth Greene, played by Emily Kinney, will be explained.
"She is out there ... questions of how she got where she is will be answered," Gail Anne Hurd, "The Walking Dead" producer, shared.
Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl Dixon, and Kinney also discussed their characters' blooming relationship.
"Over the [course] of the episode I was able to build a trust and open up to someone and build something with Beth," Reedus explained.
"I hope so," Kinney said when asked if she wants their relationship to continue growing. "I think they definitely have a certain connection that has grown from surviving together. They have gotten to know each other on a different level that's really special, whether its friendship or something else. It's a deeper relationship."
Meanwhile, could a romantic relationship form between Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes and Danai Gurira's Michonne?
"This is the number one question we're asked," Lincoln said.
"I think the beauty of it is seeing the pain these two went through losing a child," Gurira added.
Romance or not, Rick will apparently be a strong force this season.
"He has made up with all his demons," Lincoln explained. "He is in an uncomplicated place. I don't think he has any conflict anymore or any moral ambiguity ... he's just very dangerous and a formidable leader as a result."
Still, a concern on every viewers mind is the impending and inevitable deaths of some characters. Glenn Rhee, played by Steven Yeun, is rumored to be an upcoming casualty, but he was reportedly mum on the subject.
"When I was brought on I was told there would be notice," Michael Cudlitz, who plays Sgt. Abraham Ford, said of the show's killing process. "There's a life span on the show, and its a dangerous world."
Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie Greene, knows of character deaths all too well as her on-screen father Hershel Greene, played by Scott Wilson, is "the character we miss the most," she said.
"We do all know that our time will come, but just like in life we have to be in the moment," Cohan added.
Season 5 of "The Walking Dead" begins Oct. 12 on AMC. Check out the trailer below:
