Catherine Zeta Jones Divorce 2013: Actress and Michael Douglas Separate After 13-Year Marriage
Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas have separated after 13 years of marriage.
According to CNN, one of Zeta-Jones' reps told them in an interview that the two are "taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage."
The NY Daily News reported the same thing, citing Zeta-Jones publicist Cece Yorke as their source.
No other statement from either side of the marriage has been made.
People magazine reports that Zeta-Jones, 43 and Douglas, 68, did not file for a legal separation.
Rumors about the two having marriage issues have been floating around for the past several weeks. The lovers have not been photographed together since April. They also took separate vacations with their children.
Zeta-Jones, who has starred in many films including Ocean's Twelve and Chicago, has two kids with Douglas, who starred in The Game and Basic Instinct. They have a 13-year-old named Dylan and a 10-year-old named Carys.
Zeta-Jones and Douglas were married in November of 2000, at the Plaza Hotel in New York City.
In 2010, Douglas was diagnosed with throat cancer. He said that his wife was very strong throughout the process. He entered remission in 2011.
That same year, Zeta-Jones became the one in need of medical attention. The actress had to enter a mental health facility in order to get help for bipolar disorder. In April 2013, Zeta-Jones again went to a facility for treatment of the disorder.
According to People, the couple spent time apart following Zeta-Jones' 2013 treatment.
Their children are the couple's priority. "They want the best for their kids, no matter what happens," a source said in an interview with People magazine.
