'Arrow' Season 3 Spoilers: J.R. Ramirez Cast as Ted 'Wildcat' Grant in New Season
From new villains, vigilantes and battles, there's a lot to look forward to when "Arrow" returns to The CW this fall.
According to Deadline, actor J.R. Ramirez has been cast as Ted "Wildcat" Grant in Season 3 of "Arrow."
Ted is a former boxer who will operate a gym for underprivileged children in Starling City. In the DC Comics, however, Ted is a member of the Justice Society of America who specializes in mentoring and training crime fighters like the Black Canary. That means that he could play a pivotal role in helping Laurel Lance transition from a district attorney into the Black Canary.
In addition to Wildcat, Ra's al Ghul will also pop up in the upcoming season, although it's not clear if he will be featured as Oliver Queen's ongoing nemeses of the season.
"Mention has been made of his bad blood with Oliver Queen's nemesis Malcolm Merlyn, but it remains to be seen which of the two villains is a greater threat to Starling City," reports Time.
Arrow executive producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed that Oliver will face-off with an adversary who doesn't hold a personal vendetta against him next season.
"What's interesting about the villain in season three is that he doesn't necessarily disagree with [Oliver]. He doesn't have any personal animus towards the Arrow, and he actually in some ways has a very similar worldview. [But] the Arrow is thinking too small," said the EP according to Entertainment Weekly.
In addition to facing a new villainous threat, Oliver Queen will also cope with his inner conflict over his role as The Green Arrow.
Kreisberg continued, saying, "In some ways, as Oliver is struggling with whether or not he can be the Arrow and Oliver at the same time, the villain of season 3 is saying, 'Being Oliver Queen is what's holding you back from fulfilling your true destiny.' So it's a very interesting dynamic, but it is tied in the same way that Oliver last year was wrestling with, 'Am I a hero or a killer?' The theme of identity is tied up very much in how the villain is presented to Oliver."
"Arrow" returns " premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
