A prototype for the smartwatch has been leaked to Venture Beat, despite the impending Samsung Galaxy Gear launch this September 4 at the IFA, Berlin Germany.

According to Venture Beat, a prototype for Samsung Galaxy Gear has been leaked through an "internal promotional marketing video" by an anonymous source.

The video featured the Galaxy Gear's square shaped high quality OLED display screen. Measuring about 3 inches diagonally, the device seemed quite "chunky." The top and bottom bezels also made the smartwatch look rectangular. Notably, the smartwatch reportedly covers most if not all parts of the user's wrist. Much like the Samsung S4, the Galaxy Gear has tapered and rounded edges but comes in a color combination of black and grey.

Samsung Galaxy Gear is also reported to have the following specifications and features:

- 4-mega pixel camera built in to the strap

- Tiny speakers built in to the clasp

- Power button positioned on the side

- Voice commands through Samsung S Voice

- Swipe function to access photo gallery, applications and camera

- Bluetooth connectivity to Galaxy S smartphones and tablets and all Android devices

- WiFi internet connection capabilities even without smartphone connection

- Call logs and the ability to initiate calls to a Samsung smartphone

- Galaxy S smartphone or tablet integration

- Social media integration (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)

- Pre-loaded applications for health tracking

- 10 hours of battery life

According to Venture Beat, Samsung Galaxy Gear is also highly suited for fitness and gym enthusiasts. It is loaded with several applications for health tracking and fitness purposes.

The smartwatch allegedly has the ability to track your health data by counting your steps, monitoring your heart rate and monitoring your calorie intake. It even allows users to take pictures of their food and tag them according to food type - making a food diary of sorts.

Samsung Galaxy Gear will also be able to help fitness buffs who are in need of workout suggestions. The smartwatch has the ability to suggest toning workouts, weight loss workouts and so much more.

If the prototype is indeed what Samsung Galaxy Gear will look like, including its features and specifications, this smartwatch will definitely make one great buddy for fitness and gym enthusiasts.
