Spike Jonze unexpectedly joins the growing guest list of HBO's comedy-drama series "Girls" Season 4.

Jonze won an Academy Award this year for Best Original Screenplay with "Her," which he also directed. Also, he appeared as an actor in "The Wolf of Wall Street" opposite Leonardo DiCaprio, and more recently, he played an old lady in "Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa."

TVLine first reported the news that the renowned director/writer/producer/actor would be making his appearance on the upcoming season of "Girls." While the network is trying its best to keep his role as secretive as possible, it has recently been revealed that he will play a character named Marcos.

An HBO representative also confirmed Jonze's latest TV role to TheWrap, however no further details are known at the moment.

Moreover, the hipster Brooklyn-set show's creator and star Lena Dunham took to her Instagram account on Thursday evening, July 31, to tease her fans and followers the new casting of the Spike Jonze. "Biiig Marnie & Desi concert. Mad merch and special guests!" she wrote the caption following an image of her posing with him.

In addition, "Girls" has previously seen guest spots from "Prometheus" actor Patrick Wilson, "Bridesmaids" star Chris O'Dowd and "Grown Ups" actor Colin Quinn over its first three seasons.

Spike Jonze is now set to cameo alongside other guest stars, including "Orange Is the New Black" actress Natasha Lyonne as Rickey, "Community" star Gillian Jacobs as Mimi-Rose, "Parenthood" actor Jason Ritter as Scott and executive producer Judd Apatow's teenage daughter, Maude.

Stand-up comedian Marc Maron and "American Horror Story" and "Star Trek" actor Zachary Quinto, whose characters' names are unknown, were announced as guest stars for the forthcoming episode, as well.

"Girls" is scheduled to air in 2015 on HBO.
