Executive producer Gale Anne Hurd shared some rare tidbits about Season 5 of "The Walking Dead" during the week of San Diego Comic-Con.

In an interview with Zap2it, Hurd confirmed that Season 5 continues right where Season 4 left off without any jump in time.

"I think the fans would have gone crazy if we'd picked up and they're cohabiting in peace with the Terminans," she said.

Speaking of Terminus, the residents will apparently have nicknames that are "certainly a very key component," according to Hurd. The new season will not take place entirely on Terminus, however, as the characters will go to Washington D.C.

"We like the fact that we are going to be changing it up with urban settings, suburban settings," Hurd said. "... If you think about it, there are going to be optimists. There are going to be pessimists. There are going to be people that think going back into an urban setting is going to be very dangerous because we've seen that many urban settings are essentially the City of the Dead. I don't think the debate is over yet over what's a good idea and what isn't."

Hurd also gave some details about the structure of Season 5.

"We always have one sort of overarching arc, but there are distinct natural ends to particular arcs that fall during the midseason finale and pick up again in the midseason premiere," Hurd explained. "...There are still characters who are separated. Sometimes what we do is we cut from one separated group to another within one episode, and sometimes we keep an episode entirely focused on a smaller group." 

In addition, Hurd teased that although she was not the star of the Season 5 trailer, Carol, played by Mellissa McBride, will continue to be in the series. Will she be spending more romantic time with Norman Reedus' Daryl Dixon?

"Daryl's interesting because there are the people who want him to hook up with Carol," Hurd said. "There are the people who want him to hook up with Beth. There are the people who never wanted him to hook up because he's got to save himself for them. Regardless of what we do, I don't think we're ever going to make anyone happy."

Season 5 of "The Walking Dead" begins on Oct. 12 on AMC.
