Newly leaked photos and video of the much awaited budget version of Apple's iPhone - the iPhone 5C - have surfaced.

The photos, published by Chinese website iApps.im, were featured in a report by 9to5Mac. The images showed several red iPhone 5Cs in its packaging, with its polycarbonate outer shell matching its wallpaper color.

This not the first time Apple has done some color-matching though. Last year, the tech giant also color-matched iPod Nano's external color with its wallpaper.

Chinese website Weibo also leaked iPhone 5C's packaging materials which showed off the SIM card ejection tool and the budget phone's manual, reports 9to5Mac. The photos featured a white-colored rear polycarbonate outer shell and, consistent with the previously leaked red iPhone 5C, a white wallpaper to match. There were also photos of the iPhone 5C in blue, yellow and green.

Notably though, the leaked images of the iPhone 5C were generally low quality, leaving most people doubting their authenticity. However, the leaked photos seem to be consistent with earlier rumors of the iPhone 5C coming in candy-colored packaging.

An alleged video of the iPhone 5C in action was also leaked online, reports Design N Trend. The video showed a user navigating the alleged iPhone 5C in red.

With a length of over 50 seconds, the video hints on the iPhone 5C running on the new iOS 7. The video also showed the user browsing through the App Store.

Like the leaked photos, the video of the alleged smartphone is also of poor quality but somehow shows off the budget phone's features like the phone's ear speaker and front-facing camera. The iPhone 5C in the video used WiFi and was on Airplane mode, says Design N Trend.

Other rumored specs of the budget phone include an 8-megapixel camera, a slim body and a 4-inch Retina display among others.
