Sara Carbonero Believes in Mermaids: Iker Casillas' Girlfriend Says She Has Seen Mermaids For 23 Years
Sara Carbonero is still enjoying her time off, but she wanted to share her experience with a mythological creature.
She took to her blog to talk about loving work during August because the city is quiet. She said she doesn't have to make reservations at restaurants and she can still enjoy from the beach weather when she's done with her day.
She then explained that, just a few days ago, she was sitting in front of the ocean with a friend. The two started talking and just as the sun was setting, she saw something.
Carbonero asked her friend if she had seen it, but her friend had no idea what she was talking about.
"I realized that my friend hadn't seen it or heard it," she said. "It was only something I could see. Something that I've been seeing for 23 years of my life, since my mother showed it to me when I was a young girl."
Her mother told her a story about a mermaid who fell in love with a sailor, and how she saved his life. She then said her mom showed her how to spot the mermaid, who would resurface every day.
"I swear that I saw her," she said. "Day after day, year after year, as my mother told me the story, I could see the black silhouette of a huge mermaid tail before the orange light of the sun. I could also hear her sad love song."
She said it happens for only a few seconds, so she had to pay close attention.
Carbonero is not alone in her belief of mermaids.
Demi Lovato went on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" in June and explained why she believed in mermaids.
"I just think it's possible, and there's this, like, really convincing documentary that came out," she said.
Never one to miss an opportunity to make a joke, Meyers said, "'The Little Mermaid?'"
"No!" she replied. "It was on, like, National Geographic. -- no, the Discovery Channel. And then the next day they had to say it was fake."
