Resident Evil for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC: Classic Capcom Game Gets Remastered in 1080p, Release Date Set
Capcom has confirmed that one of the most popular games in the first generation of the PlayStation, the original "Resident Evil," is in the middle of getting remastered for the latest versions of consoles including the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC, EuroGamer reports.
Based on the remake for GameCube in 2002, "Resident Evil" will be available only for digital download sometime in 2015. Of course, visuals will be better on the more powerful platforms as the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will have a standard of 1080p visuals, while visuals on the older consoles will stay at 720p.
However, 5.1 surround sound support will be available for all versions. Also, the aspect ratio can be adjusted between 4:3 or a widescreen 16:9 option depending on the player's choice and technological capabilities.
Moreover, while the original gameplay will be present, different control options and other changes will be included as well. For example, gamers can choose to employ a more dynamic camera view instead of the original game's fixed angles.
"Resident Evil" was first released for the original PlayStation in 1996 as one of the more familiar titles for early gamers. After it was remade for the GameCube in 2002, another version was created for Wii, making it somewhat ironic that the remastered version will not be available for the Wii U despite the last remake being exclusive to Nintendo.
The PlayStation classic will be coming in greater detail than any of its other versions, with enhanced resolutions and textures based on significant upgrades for the latest generation of gaming platforms. Purists can enjoy the original gameplay as well, but with the nicer effects, visuals and audio.
Developed by Capcom and Capcom Production Studio 4, "Resident Evil" is expected to be released in Q1 of 2015.
