When it comes to the conflict on the Gaza Strip, Joan Rivers has chosen not to remain quiet.

She was approached by a TMZ reporter at LAX airport, where she blamed Palestinians for the conflict and said they were warned ahead of time to get out.

"You're dead, you deserve to be dead," she said. "You started it. You started it. Don't you dare make me feel sad about that."

The reporter told her that about 2,000 people had been killed in the past month, but it didn't make her any more sympathetic. Instead, she said that this is what happens when you declare war.

And she said Palestinians had a choice.

"They were told to get out," she said. "They didn't get out. You don't get out, you are an idiot. At least the ones that were killed were the ones with very low IQs."

Rivers received a lot of backlash for her comments, and she later defended herself on her website. She said her comments were taken out of context.

"I am both saddened and disappointed that my statement about the tragedy of civilian casualties was totally taken out of context," her comment said. "What I said and stand behind is, war is hell and unfortunately civilians are victims of political conflicts. We, The United States, certainly know this as 69 years later we still feel the guilt of Hiroshima and Nagasaki."

She added that the video was not fully representative of what she said.

"Along with every other sane person in this world, I am praying for peace," she said.

Rivers recently attacked Selena Gomez for her 'pray for Gaza' Instagram post. Although the singer followed up that post by saying that she was not picking sides, Rivers still slammed her and her intelligence.

"Selena, who just came out of rehab who I believe is not a college girl," said Rivers. "Rihanna, who is beautiful but is not the brightest bulb in the lamp, they see pictures of children and they go crazy. I think Israel should start showing pictures of dead puppies, and you'll see these girls turn right around."
