'The Interview' Movie Trailer, Cast & Release Date: Seth Rogen, James Franco Anger North Korean Dictator Kim Jong-Un With Comedy Flick [Video]
Mark your calendars: "The Interview" is set to hit theaters in the U.S. on Dec. 25, according to Hollywood Reporter. It was earlier announced by Sony Pictures that the movie would be shown on Oct.10.
The movie is supposed to be an action comedy where Dave Skylark, played by James Franco, and his producer Aaron Rapoport, played by Seth Rogen, run a very popular celebrity tabloid show on TV called Skylark Tonight.
The show's popularity extended overseas and they learned that Kim Jong-un, the North Korean dictator, was a fan of their show. So they tried everything possible to get an interview with the North Korean leader, thinking that this would turn them into legitimate journalists.
While planning to travel to Pyongyang, North Korea, they were recruited by the CIA to be Kim Jong-un's highly unqualified assassins. They underwent briefing and were issued all sorts of gadgets.
Reportedly, the real Kim Jong-un is not pleased by this movie and the North Korean government labeled it as a "wanton act of terror" and vows to have "merciless retaliation" should the movie be allowed to be shown in December.
Seth Rogen, one of the writers and directors of the story, is not fazed by the uproar the movie has created and has been quoted as saying on Twitter that he hopes that Kim Jong-un, the Supreme Leader of North Korea, will enjoy it when he sees the movie.
They are riding on the controversy it has created and hopes this will be good for the box-office performance of the movie when it finally gets shown.
The cast of the "The Interview" includes "James Franco as Dave Skylark, Lizzy Caplan as Agent Lacey, Seth Rogen as Aaron Rapoport, Randall Park as Kim Jong-un, Charles Rahi Chun as General Jong and Timothy Simons as Malcolm."
