Things will heat up in New Orleans when "The Originals" premieres its second season on The CW this fall.

Last season ended with an intense finale and a number of shocking moments, including Hayley's transition into a hybrid and the return of Rebekah. In addition, Klaus and Hayley's baby was finally born. However, after the birth of baby Hope, Klaus was forced to stage her death in order to protect her. In actuality, he sent his baby girl off to live with his sister Rebekah, who made a surprise return after the leaving the show earlier in the season, Just Jared Jr reported.

During the 2014 Comic-Con, executive producer Michael Narducci revealed that family drama will escalate to a new level in Season 2.

Narducci teased that Klaus and Elijah will have to deal with the unpleasant surprise of the return of both of their evil parents from the other side.

"The very thing that they cling to ... is now coming into jeopardy, and the antagonist is their mother, the person you should feel the most love from," Narducci said at the show's Comic-Con panel, according to TV Guide. "This person is coming back to judge them as abominations."

Meanwhile, Davina will bring their father Mikael back from the other side in order to get revenge against Klaus.

"Things are going to start to implode," the EP reported.

Actor Joseph Morgan also dropped a few spoilers, revealing that Klaus and Elijah's parents will be a central part of the first few episodes of Season 2.

"They're going to explore a lot more of the original parents," he shared during an interview with Happy Cool. "There's gonna be some payment need, some blood payment needed."

He added, "You can expect things to unfold quite quickly."

To add to the misfortune, the war in New Orleans will intensify as Hayley struggles with her transition into a hybrid and keeping her new temper in check.

From the looks of the Season 2 trailer, it also appears that Davina may find a new love interest when a character named Caleb comes along.

Morgan also hinted that there will be changes in the relationships of the characters.

"They each have different ideas of how to deal with the loss of Hope, " he said, referring to Hayley, Elijah and Klaus. "It's like three strangers living in the same building," he said.

In an interview with TVLine, Narducci and fellow "The Originals" producer Julie Plec revealed that "Rebirth" is the title for the premiere episode of Season 2, as well as an underlying theme that will last thoughout the season.

Part of the "rebirth" process will center on Klaus as he confronts his parents, Narducci said.

"[Season 2 is] all about confronting the sins of the past. We're very much defined by our parents, but as we become adults, we begin to choose our paths. ... Klaus is very much a product of his abusive father, and much a product of his mother," he said.

According to Plec, "rebirth" will indicate the episode's theme, the loss of Klaus' baby and the start of his new life.

Narducci also said that the series will explore Klaus' moral origins.

"We'll see flashbacks to when he was a child as well as right before he became a vampire," he said.

The producer added that all of this will "examine what his relationship was with his mother, and the sense of betrayal that he felt when she came back from the dead and judged him as an abomination."

Season 2 of "The Originals" will premiere on Oct. 6 on The CW.
