iOS 8 Beta, Download, Release Date, Update Rumors 2014: Improved Maps App to Help Users Find Entertainment, Dining Options?
Have you ever wanted to use your iMaps app for help in finding a nearby place to grab lunch? It probably wasn't as easy as you would have liked.
Well, the newest iOS 8 beta has a feature that is going to make that a whole lot easier.
The Epoch Times is reporting that iOS 8 beta 5 has a Maps feature that will allow users to click on the phone number of a restaurant and the app will move the information to the iPhone's list of recent places.
This supposedly will make it easier for users to find more entertainment and dining options in the area surrounding their current locations.
If the user engages this new feature, Safari also will offer up the same local results.
Also included in the iOS 8 beta 5 version is a heavy focus on health. That version was released last week.
The latest beta features a test that helps diagnose certain lung conditions by measuring a person inhaling and exhaling, according to Venture Beat. Beta 5 also comes more pedestrian capabilities, like fitness tracking. But the system's higher-level functions -- beyond what a normal consumer would use -- signals that the company is taking aim at getting professional health devices to use its HealthKit software.
While more features are expected upon the release of iOS 8 beta 6, which BGR is speculating will come out on Aug. 15, none have been leaked to this point.
After the release of beta 6, Apple is expected to release one last version -- iOS 8 GM -- which will be the final version before the public release of iOS 8.
