NBA New Season Schedule: LeBron will Return to Miami for a Christmas Day Game vs. Heat, Sources Say
LeBron James is likely coming back to Miami this winter. This time it will be to play against his former team.
According to sources familiar with the league's new 2014-2015 schedule, the NBA will announce a Christmas Day game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat, to be played in Miami.
Sources told ESPN.com that the NBA will indeed announce the Christmas Day game in their special NBA TV schedule unveiling Wednesday at 6 p.m. ET.
The game brings LeBron James back to Miami to face off against former teammates Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh on Christmas Day. Christmas Day games have been traditionally a day where big NBA games take place.
On that same day, the L.A. Clippers will face the Golden State Warriors. The teams have a growing rivalry and have both improved in recent years.
James began his career in Cleveland, playing for seven seasons. He went without a title in those seven seasons and decided to sign with the Miami Heat for the 2010-2011 season. After making it to the NBA Finals and losing in his first season with Miami, LeBron won back-to-back titles with the Heat in 2012 and 2013. During the 2013-2014 season, the team again made the NBA Finals, but lost to the San Antonio Spurs.
After losing in the 2014 NBA Finals, many speculated that James would not return to the Heat for the 2014-2015 season, and they were right. James made the decision to leave the Heat and to return to the Cavaliers, signing a 2-year deal worth $42.1 million.
The first evening that the Cavaliers will play hasn't been announced yet. It was thought that maybe the Cavs would face off against the World Champion San Antonio Spurs, but sources insist that won't happen and the Spurs will play the Dallas Mavericks for their first game on Oct. 28.
