Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Specs Revealed Before September Unveil
Samsung is expected to unveil the next iteration in its popular Galaxy Note series in early September, but specs for the phablet seem to have already leaked online, and once again the device looks to be one powerful beast.
Although Samsung has yet to announce the Galaxy Note 4, Indonesian Internet retailer Erafone ended up spilling the beans earlier this week with a product page that described the smartphone in full detail. The page has since been taken down and Samsung hasn't commented on the matter, but there's a good possibility the specs listed are indicative of the final product.
According to Erafone, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will feature a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a pixel resolution of 1440X2560. If this is indeed true, then this will mark the first time Samsung hasn't increased the screen size on a new Galaxy Note (the Galaxy Note 3 also had a 5.7-inch display).
Underneath the hood should lie either a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor or an octa-core Exynos 5433 chipset with four Cortex-A57 cores and four 1.3GHz Cortex-A53 cores. Buyers in the United States will most likely see the Snapdragon variant, while those overseas will get Samsung's eight core treatment. Both versions should sport 4GB RAM to help them chug along.
The Galaxy Note 4 is also said to have a 16-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization and will come with 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB of storage, although users can add up to an extra 128GB of storage through a microSD slot.
According to Erafone, the Galaxy Note 4 will support 4G LTE (a given), the latest Wi-Fi, and come preloaded with Android 4.4.3 KitKat, most likely layered with Samsung's TouchWiz interface. Translating the price listed shows the Galaxy Note 4 pegged around $800, and the image posted highlights the Galaxy Note 4's similar design to previous models.
Bear in mind that none of the information concerning the Galaxy Note 4 is official until Samsung confirms, which shouldn't take too long. The popular South Korean electronics manufacturer is slated to hold an Unpacked event September 3 where the Galaxy Note 4 will be shown off just before the 2014 IFA tech trade show in Berlin kicks off two days later. The Unpacked event will be the second of the year, with the one earlier in the year revolving around the Galaxy S5.
Following the unveiling, the Galaxy Note 4 should then slowly roll out across the globe through the end of the year, hitting U.S. shores sometime around October or November if previous Galaxy Note releases are any indication. When the Galaxy Note 4 does land stateside, expect it on all major carriers, including U.S. Cellular.
