Dwyane Wade Wife & Home: Miami Heat Star's Chicago Home Facing Foreclosure; Ex-Wife to Blame?
Future Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade's Chicago home is now facing foreclosure.
TMZ reported that payments have stopped on the $225,000 mortgage, though there isn't information on how behind the payments are. The house was occupied by Wade and his ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches.
The two divorced in 2007, and though he got custody of their two children, she got to keep the 7,800 square foot house. Wade's lawyers said that a settlement was reached last year, and she was to take over on payments for the house.
She, according to the New York Daily News, was also going to receive $300,000 every year in spousal support and four cars.
"Mr. Wade has provided a very generous settlement to Mr. Funches to continue to live a wonderful lifestyle for the rest of her life," said James Pritikin, the basketball player's lawyer, in 2013.
"Despite false allegations by Ms. Funches claiming to be 'homeless' and 'destitute,' Dwyane Wade has maintained over the years financial support to his ex-wife providing her with income over $25,000 on a monthly basis, timely paid for her home mortgage, maintenance and security at the house, four cars, insurance, taxes and all of her attorney fees throughout this process."
The attorney says that Funches just stopped making payments and that Wade is no longer responsible. But TMZ argues that Wade's name is probably on the mortgage and that this could complicate matters.
A foreclosure notice was sent by the bank on Aug. 11.
Funches has previously said that she wasn't receiving any money from Wade.
"So I took care of myself and our two children, purely living off of savings," Funches said. "The savings dwindled down. I was advised by my lawyer to find a bankruptcy attorney."
