What does the fox say? Will we ever know?

Those are the questions in "The Fox," a new music video by Norwegian duo Ylvis. The video is ridiculous, hilarious, nonsensical, and insane, and the song is upbeat and catchy. In other words, it's like "Harlem Shake" 2.0. mixed with "Gangnam Style." Basically, singers Bård Ylvisåker and Vegard Ylvisåker sing "What does the fox say?" throughout the entire song, and mention farm animals, horses and morse code. 

Animal costumes are abound in the video, but none more so than fox costumes. The tune and group dance moves are reminiscent of "Gangnam Style." 

The video takes a cue from "Old McDonald" by stating what cows, dogs, cats and elephants say. But what does a fox say? Apparently it says a lot of things, including "Chacha-chacha-chacha-chow!", "A-hee-ahee ha-hee!", "tchoff-tchoffo-tchoff!", and so much more. Here's what a red fox really says, according to National Geographic.

Many people might be wondering what the point of the video is and if it's actually serious.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the Norwegian singers are talk show hosts and "The Fox" is a promotional campaign for the new season of their show "I Kveld med YLVIS," which airs on Norwegian television channel TVNorge. The video was uploaded yesterday to the TVNorge YouTube channel.

Will this video become as popular as viral hits such as "Gangnam Style" and the various "Harlem Shake" videos? Many news websites who have posted the video, including The A.V. Club, Gawker, Vulture seem to think so.
