Aaron Hernandez Murder Case Update: More Evidence Turns Up In 2012 Double Homicide
Aaron Hernandez's attorneys will have an uphill battle going forward as evidence continues to turn up in every corner.
It was reported today that police have obtained video evidence that shows Hernandez was at the same nightclub as Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado on July 16, 2012, hours before they were shot and killed in a car.
The former NFL star is already in jail on murder and weapon charges in connection to the death of his friend, Odin Lloyd, who was found dead in June. Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to murdering Lloyd.
While evidence is already piling up in that case, it just keeps mounting in other cases.
Police are trying to determine whether Hernandez killed Abreu and Furtado; authorities were looking for evidence in the Lloyd murder when they came across a gray SUV with Rhode Island plates. The SUV, which was found in Hernandez's uncle's home after it sat there for around a year, fit the description of the car used in the killings of Abreau and Furtado.
A grand jury is looking at the case.
In other news this week, USA Today Sports says U.S. District Court Judge Kathleen M. Williams granted Hernandez's attorney's request for a temporary stay in a civil lawsuit filed by a man who claims Hernandez shot him in the face in February and dumped him in an alley. The attorneys were seeking a stay in order to focus on Lloyd's murder case.
If Hernandez is convicted of murdering Lloyd, he could face life in prison.
