Ant-Man New Movie Release and Cast News: T.I. Joins Cast of Upcoming Marvel Film
T.I. joins the growing cast of Marvel Studios' upcoming superhero movie "Ant-Man."
This certainly is not the "No Mediocre" rapper's first time appearing on the big screen, as he previously played the lead acting role as a teen named Rashad in his 2006 film debut "ATL." He also starred in 2007 biographical crime drama "American Gangster" as well as 2013 crime comedy "Identity Thief."
According to Hollywood Reporter, "Ant-Man" began its production with shooting taking place on Monday in San Francisco. It is produced by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and executive-produced by Louis D'Esposito, Alan Fine, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee. Its script is written by Adam McKay, Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari.
The Atlanta emcee is now set to join "Boardwalk Empire" star Bobby Cannavale, "Archer" actress Judy Greer and "Mad Men" actor John Slattery. Also, "House of Cards" star Corey Stoll was previously cast in the movie as villain Yellowjacket, among other new additions including "Paid in Full" actor Wood Harris, comedian Gregg Turkington, and child star Abby Ryder Fortson.
Most importantly, "Anchorman" star Paul Rudd will star as the film's protagonist - a superhero who shrinks to an ant size while increasing in strength - while Michael Douglas will play his mentor Dr. Hank Pym and "Lost" actress Evangeline Lilly will take on the role of Pym's daughter.
"Ant-Man" is scheduled to hit theatres on July 17, 2015. T.I. is getting ready to release his forthcoming ninth studio album "Paperwork: The Motion Picture."
